Museum Map

June 2024-July 2024
This project was created during my time at the High Museum of Art where I served as a Creative Services Intern. The main goal of this project was to create a printed booklet that would serve as a general guide to anyone vising the museum.

Since the beginning of COVID in 2020, the High Museum had not provided visitors with printed maps. However, according to the guest relations department, people visiting the museum asked for maps daily.

Thus, my task was to create a printed guide that would fit on either one or two legal size sheets of paper.

I was provided with the original museum guide layout, but given specific direction to make the new guide less cramped with more white space, more legible, and include more color. Specifically, I was tasked with creating colored versions of each map.
I decided to use a primary color scheme for the maps due to their significance in art, being the basis for all other colors. I also used Adobe Color to ensure the colors were colorblind safe and therefore more accessible.

After multiple rounds of revisions with both the senior designer and the guest relations department, I printed roughly one-thousand copies for use over the next two weeks. The final product was a two-page perfect bound booklet.

I also created two more versions of the design for upcoming exhibitions as the images and titles of special exhibitions are frequently changed and therefore need updating.

The maps are now available upon request at the guest services desk in the main lobby.
